Offering Spiritual Guidance in the Sufi Tradition
The Sufi mystic and poet Jelaluddin Rumi uses the laughing pomegranate as a metaphor for spiritual attainment and a trope for the ideal spiritual teacher. The pomegranate seeds, luminous and glistening inside, represent the gems at the depth of spiritual consciousness. They are normally enclosed and hidden by the hard outer shell of the pomegranate. But in the "laughing" pomegranate there is a crack in that shell, an opening that reveals a glimpse of the wondrous jewels within, at least to those with eyes to see.
Treasures of the Sufi TraditionHalf-day retreats to explore some of the richness, power, and spiritual treasures of the Sufi tradition. The Six Dimensions of BeingWe break out of our sense of limited self by expanding from within to the limits of the physical body in each direction. Each dimension represents an aspect of ourselves in relationship to the environment and in relation to planes of spiritual development. In the process we expand the physical body itself, making more room for the heart and creating a spaciousness within. Then we release into the fullness of undivided being in each dimension.
